Exterior Preparation

The foundation of every great exterior paint job – quality paint work starts with quality preparation

Our surface preparation techniques are designed to uncover and repair existing damage, minimize future deterioration, and protect your home from water intrusion and air leaks. Our surface preparation processes include:

  • Pressure washing to release ambient dirt and organic growth (mold, algae, etc.) so that the house is clean and new primer/paint can bond correctly (may involve using a diluted or mild detergent)
  • Scraping to remove loose and peeling paint from wood, stucco, ferrous and non ferrous metals in areas that are obviously peeling, as well as in areas that have a tendency to peel or bubble
  • Sanding scraped areas to prevent peeling on paint edges, improve their appearance and create a better bonding surface for the finish coat
  • Identifying damaged wood and discussing repair or replacement options with you to ensure your home’s substrates are sound
  • Removing degraded caulk and applying new, high quality caulk especially around windows and doors, to seal out water
  • Removing and replacing degraded window putty to stabilize window glass
With the correct preparation as a foundation, you can feel confident that a quality paint system tailored to your home’s particular needs will create a high quality finish that will stand the test of time. Call us or click here to book an estimate.
